Hawthorne produced its first staging of the Dickens classic in 2007, starring Gerry Love as Scrooge. Nancy Crouse adapted the script and directed the show, which was presented again in 2009, 2011 and 2013. The proceeds from those shows helped fund the Duckie DeMere Scholarship Program, awarded to outstanding graduating seniors active in the performing arts. Since then, Hawthorne has awarded over $50,000 in scholarships
